Visit Cigiano di Sotto to truly experience traditional Tuscany in a small Tuscan farm set in the medieval walled village of Castiglione, which was recently voted as one of the loveliest villages in Italy.

Cigiano di Sotto, is 2 three bedroom apartments, within a large farmhouse, rented exclusively together on a traditional Tuscan farm. The farm is on the edge of the medieval walled village of Castiglione which was recently voted as one of the loveliest villages in Italy, Castiglione has 3 restaurants, 3 cafes and small shops.

In each of the roomy apartments there are 2 double bedrooms and 1 twin bedroom. The apartments also have roomy lounge / dining / kitchen areas, fully equipped with modern utilities, and a modern bathroom in each. There is also a lovely shaded outdoor dining space with lovely views of the mountains.

There is also an office room, with internet access.

There is a large courtyard, good for eating outside with BBQ. The pool is a large 14 metres by 5 metres with a large sun terrace and fantastic views of the spectacular Apuane Mountains.

The location is quiet and peaceful with the benefit of village facilities within a short walk.

We can help arrange mountain biking, hill walking, horse riding, gorge walking, art classes and cooking classes which are all available locally.

Guests have access to the land on the farm, outdoor dining area and large pool area. There is a recreational room with computer that the guests can use.

The owner Sergio and his family live and work on the farm.

Property Information

Castiglione di Garfagnana is a medieval walled town and comune of 1,878 inhabitants in the province of Lucca.

 

Things to visit and see in Castiglione di Garfagnana are the walls, the medieval castle is still intact and the two churches of San Michele and San Pietro.

There are 3 bars, all of which serve food, and two restaurants in the village. One of the bars is also a well stocked grocery store and there is also an excellent green grocers. The village is lively throughout the summer with many local food festivals. There is a market every Saturday morning. The surrounding scenery is among the best in the area, with panoramic views of the Apuan mountains.

 

The large market town of Castelnuovo is only 10 minutes drive away, here you will find many shops, restaurants, bar/cafes and the nearest train station that links with Lucca (50 minutes). The nearest supermarkets are in Pieve Fosciana which is 3km from Castiglione. Other nearby places of interest are San Pelegrino, Corfino, Silico, Barga, the fortress at Verucole and Piazza al Sercchio.

 

The area is known for its spectacular walking routes. There are many different options of outdoor activities in the area. There is a lovely waterfall nearby where it is possible to swim.

Payment Policies

A partial payment in the amount of 25% of the grand total is due no later than 2 day(s) after confirmation of intention to book or upon booking if that date has already passed. Remaining payment is due no later than 56 days prior to arrival.
Cancellation must be made in writing. The cancellation charge will be the full deposit if you cancel before 56 days from the departure date. The following cancellation charges will also apply. Cancellation less than 56 days before departure 100% of the amount paid is chargeable. We will endeavour to re-book any cancelled booking and if successful will only charge you an administration fee of £30. If the villa is re-booked at a lower price then you will be refunded the difference.

Tourist tax not included in the price. Payable to the owner upon arrival

We advise that you to take out holiday cancellation insurance. You are also asked to take out personal holiday insurance to cover such matters as travel, loss of money or belongings, accident, injury and medical expenses as the use of a property is entirely at the client’s risk. Should the owner be unable to provide the property after a booking has been confirmed, you will be immediately offered the choice of a another similar or better property or a refund in full.

Total number of occupants will not exceed the quoted number unless agreed.
All trash and perishables must be disposed of and dishes washed before departure.
Final cleaning included in the price quoted.
Towels, bed linen and pool towels provided.
Logs for open fire (if applicable) provided.
Central heating may be charged as extra for for colder periods - please enquire.
A damages deposit may be requested by the owner. You will be informed if this is the case.
Please send photographs of your passports to the owner prior to your arrival, as these must be registered at the local council office. The owners, number is in the information sheet.
