Farmhouse Bòggina is an elegant Leopoldinian farmhouse dating from the early 1800s, offering four bedrooms and three bathrooms and sleeping up to 9 guests, set within the renowned Tenuta di Petrolo. The house is positioned directly in front of the celebrated Bòggina vineyard, where Petrolo’s finest Sangiovese wine is produced, and is surrounded by olive groves and open countryside. Bòggina is located approximately 900 metres from the main estate house, Villa Petrolo, ensuring privacy and tranquillity while remaining part of the estate, while at the same time being just 500 metres from the village of Mercatale Valdarno, making it one of the most conveniently placed properties on the estate.

The farmhouse is surrounded by a large private garden and enjoys easy access while remaining well away from main roads. A small, separate apartment on the opposite side of the building (Bòggina II) is occasionally used by the owner; however, the garden and swimming pool are for the exclusive and private use of Bòggina guests, ensuring complete privacy throughout your stay.

Bòggina is arranged across three floors and offers generous living space throughout. On the ground floor there is a large living room with satellite TV, WiFi, and a fireplace, along with a fully equipped kitchen including dishwasher, microwave, and electric kettle, with direct access to the garden. Also on this level is a double or twin bedroom with private bathroom and direct garden access.
The first floor is accessed via an external staircase leading to a covered panoramic terrace, and includes a double bedroom with private bathroom, a twin or double bedroom, and a shared bathroom. An internal staircase leads to the second floor, where there is a triple bedroom, which can be arranged as a double bed plus one single.

Outside, Bòggina offers a private fenced swimming pool set among olive trees, measuring 6 × 12 metres with a depth of 1.6 metres, maintained daily. The garden is fully equipped for outdoor living, with dining table and chairs, sun loungers, umbrellas, a BBQ, and a traditional wood-fired oven, making it ideal for relaxed meals and long summer evenings. Firewood is provided free of charge.

Bòggina combines historic Tuscan character, space, and comfort with one of the most convenient locations on the Petrolo estate, making it particularly appealing for families and groups who appreciate privacy, a private pool, and easy access to village amenities.

Bòggina forms part of the Tenuta di Petrolo, a historic Tuscan wine estate located on the hills of Val d’Arno di Sopra, on the southeastern edge of the Chianti region. The estate extends across vineyards, organic olive groves, oak woodland, and private lakes, and lies within easy reach of Florence, Siena, and Arezzo, all approximately 30–45 minutes away by car.

Petrolo is internationally known for its award-winning wines and organic extra virgin olive oil, produced using low-yield, quality-driven methods. Guests are welcome to arrange winery visits and guided tastings, with the opportunity to purchase estate wines and olive oil directly on site. A defining landmark of the estate is the ancient Tower of Galatrona, with origins dating back to Etruscan and Roman times, dominating the surrounding countryside and lending its name to some of Petrolo’s most celebrated wines.

The estate accommodates guests across six properties in total — the historic Villa Petrolo and five independent farmhouses — hosting up to 79 guests altogether. Villa Petrolo sleeps 33 guests, Bòggina sleeps 9, La Vigna sleeps 10, La Costa sleeps 8, Feriale I sleeps up to 10, and Feriale II sleeps up to 6 guests including the sofa bed. This flexible layout makes Petrolo particularly well suited to large family gatherings, weddings, and private events.

A distinctive feature of the estate is its private chapel, where guests may also choose to celebrate weddings and blessing ceremonies in a truly atmospheric and historic setting. All events, guest services, and experiences — including private chef services on request — can be fully organised on site with the support of the experienced and very helpful estate manager, Marco, ensuring a smooth and memorable stay.

Property Information

The Petrolo estate enjoys a peaceful countryside setting while remaining exceptionally well connected. The nearest village, Mercatale Valdarno, is just 500m away and offers everyday amenities including restaurants, grocery shops, a bakery, butcher, pharmacy, and ATM — ideal for a relaxed, car-light stay.

A short drive brings you to Montevarchi (around 8 km), a larger town with a mainline train station providing easy rail connections to Florence, Rome, and beyond. This makes Petrolo a great base for combining countryside tranquillity with cultural day trips, without the need to drive into cities.

A glance at the map shows that Petrolo sits perfectly within Tuscany’s much-loved “golden triangle”, between Arezzo, Siena, and Florence. Most of Tuscany’s highlights are within an hour’s drive, yet many guests choose to slow the pace, spending days by the pool, walking the estate, or enjoying the peace and views — with WiFi available should you wish to plan outings or stay connected.

For shopping lovers, the famous Prada Outlet Space is only a 10-minute drive, while Montevarchi also offers independent shops, markets, and cafés. Whether your interests lie in art and history, wine and food, fashion, antiques, walking, or simply relaxing in the countryside, Petrolo offers an exceptional base from which to enjoy Tuscany at your own rhythm.
