Get creative and explore

Led by the artist Tony PhillipsWork by Tony, an English artist who has lived in Barga for more than 15 years. Tony has exhibited widely in the UK, with work in recent shows at the V&A and Tate Britain and has work in many public collections. For the last 7 years he has combined his passion for the local landscape with his love of walking, taking groups around Barga and the Serchio Valley.

 

Walks Discover the hill-top towns and scenery around Barga and Garfagnana on a series of footpaths which also take in many fascinating mountain routes in the Apuan and Appenine Alps.

Sketching Trips Join a short tour in the Serchio Valley which include sketching tuition, drawing directly from nature. Sessions include use of pen-and-ink, watercolour and pastel and are suitable for both complete beginners and those with drawing experience.

Booking and prices Trips are available to book per day and per week. It is possible to book a week which is partly made up of walking days and sketching days. The trips are available for single participants and groups of up to 12 people.

Cost for 2 – 12 people
£40 per  person per day – includes transport, some materials, guide and tuition.
£80 per day for single participant.
Participants can take a packed lunch or visit a local restaurant.

Higher Serchio valley

Starting and finishing in Camporgiano, taking in Villetta and the viaduct to Poggio. Max. 4 hours
walking.

 

 

Campocatino

hermitage of San Viviano, with views of a working marble quarry. Max. 3 and half hours walking.

 

 

 

Monteperpoli

Campia – where a large river-pool offers opportunity for some wild swimming if desired.  Max. 3

Orto di Donna
pisaninoStarts at mountain refuge Donegani and reaches the crests of the Apuan Alps with views of
working marble quarry. Can conclude with wild swimming in Lake Gramolazzo if desired.
Flexible time depending on how much walking is desired – from 3 and half to 7 hours.
