Casa dell'Acqua - 4 bedroom villa in olive grove with electric vehicle charging

Casa dell’ Acqua is a beautifully restored traditional country villa, wonderfully situated in a large olive grove overlooking the plain towards Lucca.

This is a special house which offers the opportunities of organised walking, art classes and cooking lessons.

There’s a restaurant within walking distance, please not the restaurant is reservations only.

The house has lovely features with all modern facilities. It has been only recently restored and has a large olive grove around it. There is a colourful garden and terraces, on one of which an out of ground pool has been erected, great for cooling off or playing in.

There are 4 bedrooms, 2 large doubles, 1 twin bedroom, and 1 bedroom with a small double (3/4) bed.

Downstairs is a large bright living room with a dining area and stone open fireplace, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen with table, and a utility room. There is a very comfortable, cool atmosphere about the old house, with many features including chestnut beams and terracotta ceilings, and lovely tiled floors.

There is good free WiFi and also an electric vehicle charging point. The use of which will be measured and charged at the end of your stay.

Casa Dell’ Acqua is so called due to the ancient well in the garden. It is situated on a famous hill known as ‘La Bracolleria’, which is host to seven small villages, olive groves, vineyards and farms. The Lucca hills are known for the quality of their wine and particularly olives and olive oil. There are fantastic views over the plain to Lucca, and over the Apuane Mountains to the North.

The famous art city of Lucca is only a few kilometres away, and the lovely villages of the Media Valley and the dramatic mountain scenery of the Garfagnana are also nearby. Nearby, within 5 minutes walk, there is a well known restaurant, and many others in the locality. There are also important churches and villages which can be visited on foot.

We can help arrange mountain biking, hill walking, horse riding, gorge walking and cooking classes which are all available locally.

We enjoyed our stay at Casa dell'Acqua very much. The landlord was very helpful and friendly. The house is well equipped and you get an awesome view from the garden and the pool. Speaking of the pool: It's smaller than it looks in the pictures but overall very lovely. All in all: A children-friendly, extremely beautiful place that I can truly recommend.

We liked it very much in the Airbnb. It is beautifully situated on a slope which allows you to look over the whole valley. One of us also had a short health problem, which the two hosts helped with very quickly

We stayed at the villa for 7 days as a family of seven. The villa is in a very remote setting with very narrow and winding lanes to reach it. It offers stunning views and is a great base to explore many of Tuscanys sites. We visited both Pisa and Florence in addition to Barga and a stunning natural reserve at Orrido di Botri. The pool is a lot smaller than the measurements provided, a slight disappointment to our children. It is more of a plunge pool which is great for cooling down. We found the owner Enzo to be quite particular, on arrival he asked that we not use any sun cream when entering the pool and that the children not splash to lose any of the water! The mountain bikes advertised were locked up and we had to call him to ask for the key, he then kindly travelled to bring this to us. I am unsure why this wasn't at the villa as it is a facility for guests. The villa was very rustic but perfect for our needs. We visited the local restaurant Da Tosca on 3 occassions it was fantastic and the staff were so hospitable. It is about a 35 minute walk up the mountain road but definitely worth the effort.

The villa was precious and the view was amazing. However, getting there was quite scary! And the amenities were scarce. But the owners were delightful and gave us a bottle of wine and delicious cookies! I don't think I'd stay there again because of the scary drive.

Recently returned from Casa de'll Aqua and had a fantastic time, the house is large enough for 7 adults and a young child to live comfortably without getting in each other's way. Definitely would recommend hiring a car as it is quite far from supermarket in Ponte a Mariano, also you will want to explore the beautiful countryside, as in Lucca, Barga, Florence etc. We also did a pasta making day with Rita and we all throughly enjoyed our day. The restaurant up the hill just some 200m was excellent value for money and the food was amazing as was the wine. Enzo and Olga where great hosts and paid visits throughout our time with help advice and cakes. Would definitely recommend and hopefully will return.

Spacious, beautiful views, rustic, clean and well equipped.

We have just returned from 12 days in this spacious beautiful house. With 7 adults we had plenty of space to chill in the beautiful garden or take a quick cooling dip in the pool. The house is situated in the hills away from everyone but we travelled out and about and visited the beaches, a lake, Pisa, Lucca and Florence all wiithin easy reach by car or train. Olga and Enzo were on hand if we needed them for anything, hey were very friendly and always appeared with a smile and goodies.

We have recently spent two fabulous weeks at Casa dell Acqua in Tuscany. The property is in a beautiful location in the San Guisto di Brancoli area, just above the medieval city of Lucca. Our holiday was organised through 'Friends of Tuscany' who we found to be excellent in giving guidance on everything that would help our visit to Tuscany as enjoyable as possible. They gave us contacts for the best hire car company, local restaurants in the area, historical places of interest, and excursions to name but a few. The owners, Enzo and Olga are extremely friendly and helpful, giving much appreciated information and advice on the history of the local area, and the many interesting places to visit. Casa Del Acqua is a beautiful villa which has recently been restored by Enzo and Olga. It has its own swimming pool and bbq areas which we used throughout our time there. It is situated in an olive grove, with other interesting plants, flowers and herbs. The views across the Lucca plain are stunning, well worth the journey up the winding road that leads to the villa, some 2km from the nearest shop and post office. The City of Lucca is also stunning, and a cycle around the ancient walls is definitely recommended. A trip to Bagni da Lucca and the ancient Spa is definitely an experience not to be missed, as is an afternoon spent canyoning down a beautiful gorge in the Ganfagnala area. Our family holiday this year was the best so far. We would recommend Tuscany, and in particular Casa dell Acqua as an amazing location. We found the local restaurants good value, (if you eat where the locals eat), and the local supermarkets inexpensive. Thanks again to Olga, Enzo and Andrew (Friends of Tuscany), for making our holiday special.

Our stay at Casa dell'Acqua was a very enjoyable one. We followed the directions we were given and they took directly to the villa. The location is quite stunning overlooking the valley and town of Lucca. At night too, quite spectacular with the lights in the valley and the stars. The villa is large and can easily accommodate a family, there were seven of us and we had space, we ate outside most of the time which was a very enjoyable experience. There are four bedrooms upstairs and a bathroom with another bathroom located down stairs. The kitchen is well fitted out and has a dish washer, a larger fridge would have been a help but we managed. For shopping there is a large supermarket in Marla (Esselunga) and you can find all your shopping needs and more there. Outside in the back area there is a washing machine and a washing line in the front garden. Large living room downstairs and TV channels to choose from, we did not watch any TV as too much to do. The pool got quite a bit of use if for no other reason just to cool off, it way the Italians do it, but they try and that's the main thing. The location is rural and you have all that comes with it. The dogs bark but its fine, its just part of all that is going on. There are ants and spiders but it all makes for the fun of country living. None of it was a problem. There is a lot to do in the area and one of our regrets was not checking what was going on in Lucca and we missed the summer festival. We went to Canyon Park, Pisa, Florence all of which are an easy drive, check out the parking first and its easy. It you want a great meal head up to the restaurant above the villa, A Palazzo, it's a five minute walk. The place is beautiful and the food magnificent. House wine is also very drinkable. Seriously seven of us at and drank for 105euros, no one went home hungry. Olga came to see us on our last day and brought us some local cakes as a gift, a very nice lady and very helpful. We had the same when we arrived. My only complaint is we stayed one week instead of two, but we will return, it was fantastic. Date of stay 20/7/16

Spacious and well-equipped for our family of four adults. Owners very friendly and helpful, they gave us delicious cakes and pies! Splendid view down valley towards Lucca and nice garden and seating areas. We had a wonderful meal at the local restaurant, A Palazzo, a short walk above the villa, which was good value and authentic local cuisine. Overall would definitely recommend this villa. But a small car, i.e Fiat Panda, as all the locals drive, would have been better than the upgraded large saloon car that we ended up with, the roads are narrow and windy! So many good places to explore all around.

We were a party of four adults. the journey by car from Pisa was an adventure in itself. The last section up thro the chicanes was great fun. the Villa is amazing. The view astounding. The two bathrooms were a bonus. The piece de resistance was the pool with the incredible view. The weather was lovely and the pool became like a warm bath. It was used every day. The Villa had every thing we could need and the kitchen was a joy to use. Just up the road around the next bend is a lovely old restaurant also with a great view from the terrace. The food is traditional and the owner was so helpful. Lucca is not far away and is not to be missed. Collectively we had a wonderful time and have no hesitation in highly recommending Casa Dell'Acqua and its very helpful owners.

We've just returned from a week's stay at Casa dell'Acqua with our two children, aged 1 and 3 and our friends and their son aged 2. We had a lovely stay and found the Villa to be more spacious and better presented than we expected from the photographs. It is very well equipt with pretty much anything you might need provided in the kitchen facilities. Any small problems we did have were dealt with very quickly by the owners Olga and Enzo, who were very friendly without being intrusive. The only thing that we could have done with was clearer instuctions on what to do with rubbish as our bins weren't emptied as we hadn't realised recyclables needed to be bagged up. Olga wasn't phased by this however and sorted it out for us. As with most properties, when travelling with children of this age, we did have to be vigilent with the children due to stone and tiled floor, staircases and the terraced garden outside, but we found the property suited our group very well. It was very easy to travel to Lucca, Pisa (we went by train from Lucca as the children enjoy train rides), the beach at Viareggio, Barga and explore the surrounding hills. We would definitely recommend this property to other families or groups of friends wanting a nice mixture of relaxing holiday and opportunity to explore.

“Casa dell’Acqua” is located in San Giusto di Brancoli, a hilly area, which has beautiful countryside, olive groves, vineyards and hidden paths. There are 9 other notable villages nearby.

Combined with its mild climate and south facing position, the mountain summits protects this area from the worst of the cold, northerly winds, making the climate pleasant all year round and ideal for the production of high quality olive oil and wine.

“Casa dell’Acqua” is ideally placed in the ruggedly beautiful Apuan Alps only 12km from Lucca, beautiful in any season, surrounded by mighty walls which for centuries have protected its well-tended gardens and ancient buildings - which can be admired while walking along the walls themselves.

There is an excellent well known restaurant only 2km from the house. There is a large supermarket, famous ice cream shop, restaurants, bars and other services in Ponte Moriano approximately 5km away.

30km away you will find the beach at Viareggio and also Pisa, where the nearest airport is. Florence is 85km away.
