Casa Fienile is a contemporary stylish house created in a traditional working farm. Relax round the beautiful 12 x 6 metre infinity pool with a fantastic view of the Apuane Mountains and spectacular sunsets.
The fascinating medieval village of Silico is a few metres walk, and there are mapped walks all around the village. The village itself has cultural attractions and events throughout the year.
Interior
The house has been restored from an old barn. The structure is rustic, and in contrast the furniture is stylish, modern and functional. There are 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The kitchen/ dining/ living room is spacious and open plan. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, oven and fridge/freezer. A washing machine is also available.
There are two electric mountain bikes for the guests to use.
Exterior
Outside there is a spacious terrace with table and loungers and a panoramic view of the dramatic Apuane Mountains.
There is a wood oven and a BBQ in the garden.
The large shared 12×6 metre pool has a wonderful view over the mountains, with incredible sunsets over this unique place.
There is an adventure playground in the garden for the guests to use.

-It is possible to by products from the farm ( cheese, salamis, ham, marmalade, chestnut flour, faro, and other preserves.
-We can help arrange mountain biking, hill walking, horse riding, gorge walking and cooking classes which are all available locally.

The accommodation and setting is stunning, we received a warm welcome and please do ask for a pizza night. A car is essential as there’s nothing close by but this is a great base for getting around Tuscany

Value for money. The family was very welcoming and helpful. Everything necessary was at the house, the pool was cleaned every evening and the house was well cleaned upon arrival. The views around the house and by the pool was spectacular and very calming. Great location for day trips and hiking. That the kids enjoyed them self on the property as well as the great pool aria. It will definitely not be our last time booking at Friends of Tuscany or this exactly place. Thanks a lot.

Flott hus med fantastisk utsikt. Det var litt kaldere enn vi forventet. Mulig vi bare var litt uheldig med vêret. Vi reiste to familier med barn fra 4 til 13 år i juli måned. Fint hus som var delt inn i to leiligheter. Basseng har samme dybde over hele, så det er ikkje optimalt for dei aller minste siden dei ikkje kan stå i bunn noen plass. Huset ligger rett med veien så er litt støy fra trafikk utfor. Det er en liten gård, var 9 kyr å 3 kalver når vi var. Dette var spennende for barna. I tillegg var det flere katter som ville ha litt kos.

Fantastic location and an amazing property with breathtaking views. We were personally greeted by Laura and her family, even though they had waited patiently for us for over an hour after our estimated arrival time... Brilliant service! The whole Il Collettino experience is just fabulous... That infinity pool is incredible, the ability to integrate with the working farm location and to help yourselves to freshly laid eggs, tomatoes and fresh herbs was great... Thank you too for the amazing fresh fruit basket and home produced wine which was a lovely touch...

We stayed here after the place we booked originally was unsuitable for young children. We loved every second. The house is a perfect size for a couple or small family, the finish is excellent and beds very comfortable. The pool area is outstanding, simply the best view I've ever had whilst swimming. There's a jungle gym too which my son loved. The owners were very kind, generous and helpful yet not intrusive. Bruno gave us dried mushrooms and even a bottle of his own wine. A perfect holiday. We are planning on returning next year. 5 STARS

If you're looking to get away into the beautiful, serene countryside of Tuscany and to enjoy the crisp mountain air of the Apuane Mountains in close proximity to other medieval hill towns, this is the place for you. After an 11 day cruise out of Venice, my significant other and I rented a car and drove 4 hours to Tuscany where we spent 10 days in Silico. We used Silico as our home base to visit other hill towns in the area. What we loved: -- the farmhouse only a few hundred meters from the medieval village of Silico. --the charming Silico village restaurant and store within walking distance (all uphill) of the farmhouse --the farmhouse infinity pool --the farmhouse picture window overlooking the meandering sheep and beautiful views of the Apuane Mountains --the washing machine - there is no dryer which is ok if it does not rain. --the clean, pristine condition of the farmhouse -- Friends of Tuscany website printout with recommendations for restaurants and visits to other medieval villages within 10 miles of our farmhouse --fresh farm produce in the village store Not so much: -- the 3km drive up the winding road to the farmhouse. -- the lack of basics in the farmhouse. On Friends of Tuscany's website we were led to believe that basic foodstuffs like salt and pepper, herbs etc. would be available. The cupboards were bare. A bit of sugar and coffee would also have been nice. -- lack of instructions on use of the fireplace for cool Fall evenings. --the rusty grill for barbecuing --our inability to communicate with the owners (our problem not theirs). 4 STARS

We were very well received by the owners in this charming farmhouse currently composed of three separate dwellings. If the apartment in which we were had all the necessary comfort, the view that the location offers remains breathtaking. We felt at home for the duration of our stay. The products on the farm allowed us to perfect the feeling of well-being during our stay. The location is quite far from all major tourist attractions: 50min from Lucca, 1h15 from Pisa, 2h30 from Florence, and so on. This did not prevent us from discovering the region and the treasures of which it abounds. Thank you again for these beautiful holidays!

We stayed in Il Colletino Fienele for 2 weeks during August and I cannot recommend this place enough. The apartment is clean, modern and tastefully furnished. It was well equipped with a very modern kitchen and bathroom suit. There is a large private dining terrace with a BBQ, as well as a large communal eating area with a pizza oven. The owners put on a pizza night which was fantastic for the kids and we got to mingle with the other lovely guests staying at Il Colletino. The views are outstanding and the pool lovely and clean. The village of Silico had a festival when we were there. Simply a perfect holiday and we will be back! Thank you for such a memorable stay.

Had a wonderful week's stay at this location during the end of July/August 2016.The pool is wonderful with breathtaking views of the mountains as you are swimming and there is a kids play area as well. You are very high up in the mountains and the views really are spectacular. The accommodation is basic but comfortable with sheltered parking and is in a quiet spot.We were worried that there was no air conditioning at a hot time of year but the accommodation was fine and had a large fan if needed.The kitchen has everything you need. The medieval village of Sillico is a few minutes stroll from the accommodation and has a lovely viewing spot. We went to the medieval festival there at night which was excellent. The owners are very welcoming and make fresh stone baked pizzas on a Wednesday evening- delicious! We loved this location and our 6 year old daughter especially loved the swimming pool.There is wifi but it is a bit slow- my internet access was fine with 3G however. There is a flatscreen tv but no channels in English. It didn't bother us too much however. I would definately recommend to other travellers.
Overall a very nice place and very friendly hosts. Beautiful area and the resturant was excellent.

On the negative side was that the wifi did not work very well, TV was italian only, not a huge problem but had we known we could have brought some DVDs. And it makes huge sence to bring salt and pepper. I guess we where the first guests of the season, so hopefully others will be able to enjoy what we left behind. But we had a wounderful time and enjoyed fab weather.

Close to Castelnuovo di Garfagnana the capital of the Garfagnana valley, Sillico is a delightful medieval village.The village sits 700 meters above sea level and offers panoramic views of the Apuan Alps and Apennines mountains.
The village is full of character and history and has a bar with an outside terrace providing those all important views, a popular restaurant and small local shop providing basic supplies.
The nearby village of Pieve Fosciana has 2 supermarkets, a few cafes, bakers and butchers shops as well as an excellent restaurant. The large market town is called Castelnuovo, here you will find many shops, restaurants, bar/cafes and the nearest train station that links with Lucca (50 minutes). Other nearby places of interest are San Pelegrino, Corfino, Barga, Bagni di Lucca, Hermitage of Calomini (Gallicano), Grotta de Vento, Verrucole Fortress, and Castiglione di Garfagnana.
Mountain biking, hill walking and horse riding are all available locally.

Pisa 1.5 hour drive or train journey
Cinque Terre 1.5 hour drive or train journey
Florence 2 hours drive or train journey

Lerici is a particularly nice fishing town further North on the coast, near the Cinque Terre.
You can take boats to the Cinque Terre at Viareggio, Forti dei Marmi and other places including Portovenere.
