A unique holiday can be enjoyed at Il Colletino. The house and pool have been created with quiet relaxation in mind, but gentle and interesting activities can be witnessed on the farm. The farm still works in the traditional way, with sheep, goats, and horses living on the quiet green pastures nearby. It is a fantastic environment for children, with a dedicated climbing/play area and traffic free streets in the village.
The house has been restored from a barn. The structure is rustic, and in contrast the interior design is fresh and contemporary. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, oven and fridge/freezer. A washing machine is also available.
Outside there is a spacious terrace with table and loungers and a panoramic view of the dramatic Apuane Mountains. There is a wood oven and a BBQ in the garden.
You can buy products from the farm (cheese, salamis, ham, chestnut flour, faro, marmalade and other preserves). It is also possible to arrange for home-made pizza or for a ‘tasting’ meal to be prepared featuring produce from the farm.
There is a private patio outside the kitchen door for al fresco eating. A good childrens playground has been created in the garden with a Flying Fox .
There is an excellent family run restaurant in Silico, only a one minute walk from the farm. The village itself is interesting; tiny but with fine buildings and wonderful views. A well known medieval festival is held there during August.
Close to Castelnuovo di Garfagnana the capital of the Garfagnana valley, Sillico is a delightful medieval village. The village sits 700 meters above sea level and offers panoramic views of the Apuan Alps and Apennines mountains.
The village is full of character and history and has a bar with an outside terrace providing those all important views, a popular restaurant and small local shop providing basic supplies.
The nearby village of Pieve Fosciana has 2 supermarkets, a few cafes, bakers and butchers shops as well as an excellent restaurant. The large market town is called Castelnuovo, here you will find many shops, restaurants, bar/cafes and the nearest train station that links with Lucca (50 minutes). Other nearby places of interest are San Pelegrino, Corfino, Barga, Bagni di Lucca, Hermitage of Calomini (Gallicano), Grotta de Vento, Verrucole Fortress, and Castiglione di Garfagnana.
