Villa Corrado - fully accessible villa, lift, pool hoist, in medieval village

This is a fantastic opportunity to experience a summer holiday in one of the loveliest villages in Tuscany. Villa Corrado is set just above the medieval walled village of Castiglione. There is a view of the ancient castle from the house and garden.

Sleeping 9 people, there are 5 bedrooms in the spacious villa, which is perfect for families or a group of friends.

The villa has also been equipped with a lift and designed with the aim of being comfortable for wheelchair users.

Downstairs, at the ground level with access through the internal garage, there is a large double bedroom with easy access to a bathroom with handrails, a low sink and a wheel-in shower with a seat and rails. There is also a twin room downstairs.

On the first floor there is a main door which leads into a roomy lounge with a 10 seat dining room table. For colder periods there is a cosy open wood fire. The lounge has French doors to the large balcony, which is a feature throughout the villa. The kitchen has easy access to the balcony through a French door.

Also on the first floor there is a lovely master bedroom with French doors leading to its own balcony with views over the pool and the beautiful countryside beyond. There is a double room and a single room which also has a door which goes down to the pool and solarium. There are 2 bathrooms, one with grab rails and a wheelchair accessible shower. The toilet has a bidet integrated into it. The other bathroom with toilet bidet shower and jacuzzi bath.

Access to the villa is by a short steep road (approx 30m),

The max weight for the lift is 250KG.

The villa surpassed all our expectations and was excellent. The owner has clearly put a great deal of thought into all aspects of life in the property and it looks like no expense has been spared in his planning and design. It is also worth mentioning the lovely view from the pool and the balcony. The combination of the pool, the view and the facilities resulted in a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday & I would highly recommend this property.

The property was well presented and very clean. There was a welcom pack on arrival which was a lovely touch and we used it during the stay. The kitchen was small (compared to the rest of the house)but adequate. Unfortunately the weather took a turn for the worst so we were not able to make use of the super swimming pool, although we did manage a few hours sunbathing. We had an issue with the internet but a rep came round the next morning and sorted it. Instructions on how to get to the villa were good. We had stYed nearby previously and it was great to explore such a lovely area again.

9 family members shared the villa .The5th bedroom however is not really of any use unless for a baby and also gives rather easy access to the pool so watch your small kids.Minor irritation to some, no mirror in double bedroom downstairs. However we had fabulous weather ,did a bit of sightseeing and enjoyed a great holiday. This was the best villa we have ever stayed in! The pool was brilliant, the garden had fantastic views with a sunset to die for. The house was really big and comfortable and accommodated our group of 9 easily. Every night we sat outside to eat or went to one of the 2 restaurants in the village which were really good value. I loved sitting around in the village having a beer or glass of chianti, and morning coffee was a pleasure. Everyone is really friendly. The area is really beautiful and I would recommend going on one of the outdoor activities which Friends of Tuscany can arrange for you. Some of us went on the canyoning excursion, which lasted all afternoon, where with provided helmet and wetsuit you jump into fabulous pools of fresh cool water. At the end the whole group sat down for a full Tuscan meal together. I can honestly say that it is one of the best things I have ever done, highly recommended. I hope we will return next year.

The property was excellent. All the bedrooms were of a nice size and the pool was a good size and clean. There were good facilities round the pool including sunbeds for everyone and sunshades. The owner, Corrado, was a really nice guy who came to see us on arrival and spoke to us in good English and gave us some good advice on local events such as a free night of opera in Castiglione and other events such as the medieval festival. He delivered fresh sheets on our middle Saturday and dealt well with any problems we had. He was very friendly and helpful and his friendship made our stay enjoyable. The villa is nicely located for a short walk into town and gives great accessibility for Lucca, Florence and Pisa and the beautiful beach town of Viareggio that is only one hour 20 minutes away. An excellent villa with good facilities and a really nice owner.

The property was a good size for the number of people, and was easy to walk in and out of the village. the pool was a good and the views from the property were fantastic. the property was very clean when we moved in, and the owners were helpful though we did not meet up with them till the Sunday.

Castiglione di Garfagnana is a medieval walled town and comune of 1,878 inhabitants in the province of Lucca.

Things to visit and see in Castiglione di Garfagnana are the walls, the medieval castle is still intact and the two churches of San Michele and San Pietro.

There are 3 bars, all of which serve food, and two restaurants in the village. One of the bars is also a well stocked grocery store and there is also an excellent green grocers. The village is lively throughout the summer with many local food festivals. There is a market every Saturday morning. The surrounding scenery is among the best in the area, with panoramic views of the Apuan mountains.

The large market town of Castelnuovo is only 10 minutes drive away, here you will find many shops, restaurants, bar/cafes and the nearest train station that links with Lucca (50 minutes). The nearest supermarkets are in Pieve Fosciana which is 3km from Castiglione. Other nearby places of interest are San Pelegrino, Corfino, Silico, Barga, the fortress at Verucole and Piazza al Sercchio.

The area is known for its spectacular walking routes. There are many different options of outdoor activities in the area. There is a lovely waterfall nearby where it is possible to swim.
